The Resolution entered the fjords of Norway on May 8th, stopping in several small towns for hikes, pictures and history. Then on May 11th we left the ship in Bergen, spending the day walking the city, taking a funicular to the top of Foyen mountain above the city, and visiting museums. Next day, it was an all-day train ride to Oslo. During our 3 days in Oslo we had perfect, sunny weather for strolling the city and enjoying this clean, beautiful capital.
Flekkefjord - a small, charming town on the fjord.
Just one of the many waterfalls . . .
We could stand on that observation deck for up-close views of the snowy mountains.
Bergen, with a lively waterfront and lots of great seafood.
The train took us through breathtaking scenery. There were cross-country skiers enjoying the snow in May!
We stayed at the Hotel Continental, the perfect location for visiting so much that downtown Oslo has to offer.
Our hotel was just a short walk to the National Museum of Art.
There was some traditional art, including the original “Scream” by Edvard Munch as well as trippy modern art.
The Opera House . . . and wood burning saunas being well used.
Frogner Park with over 212 bronze and granite sculptures by Gustav Vigeland
We ended our trip with a wonderful meal at this 3 star Michelin restaurant located on a sunny plaza just a short walk from our hotel.
