We traveled to Reedsport, on the Oregon coast for a few days of mushrooming with our daughter-in-law, Agnieszka. Aga (better known as Dr. D) staffs this rural hospital for a week at a time every 6 weeks or so. With few patients to manage in this small hospital, there is time for exploring these beautiful dunes-and-pine covered beaches. The payoff at this time of year are the rare and valuable matsutake mushrooms. Of course there are plenty of other exotic as well as edible varieties like porcini and chanterelle too.
